| What could have happened to the Philippines without Cory Aquino?
The death of Cory Aquino leaves the whole country weeping and hurting. It’s a sorry loss for this country orphaned by the death of a great leader.
All that is left of this country are her memories. Most would remember Cory as someone who was instrumental for toppling down a dictator in the name of Ferdinand Marcos. What a great feat for a woman. The loss of her husband did not dampen her spirit to fight for the restoration of democracy. But has anyone ever wondered what the Philippines would be like now without Cory Aquino?
Hell. We might have been living in an age and place of doom under the shadow of a political dynasty where dictatorship were passed on from one generation to another. The Philippines could have been a killing field of those who opposed the tyrant in the person of Bongbong Marcos and Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile could be the country’s Scylla and Charybdis. Imelda Marcos could have been tagged “The Queen of Pasig”.
Corruption must have catapulted the Philippines at the top of the list of the most corrupt countries in the world. Corruption could be the campaign slogan of most political candidates. The more corrupt the leader is, the more bankable he is to the voting public. I mean what else can we do? Had anyone tried to stop Marcos from amassing wealth? Most of the Filipinos went with the system. Most have become puppets that even the most brilliant Filipino mind became frozen and the most critical tongue was tied.
Leyte or Ilocos could have become the seat of the government and of the most progressive city in the country. Television networks could have been all closed down except for the government owned ones.
These are all specualtions but who knows? I am just thankful that God has made Cory Aquino a Filipino.

| Yes, everyone's grieving..
while some students here are happy, kasi wala silang pasok bukas dahil libing ni Cory.
Some of us just don't realize the value of a person who stood up for democracy.
So sad. | |

| In Cory's death:
We LEARNED to be HEALTH concious.
We SAW how she stood up for DEMOCRACY.
We SHOWED how we can be united as a NATION.
We GRIEVED not only for our loss, but for a woman who faught hard for her COUNTRY.
- -
Tita Cory's death should not be in vain.
We have to prove, that we deserved to have met a president like her.
Palakasin at wastuhin ang demokrasya.
Punahin ang nakikitang mali.
Ipaglaban ang tama. | |

http://kapirasongmantika.wordpress.com/2009/08/05/19/ <-- Isa namang radikal na suri kung bakit ba natin kailangan pasalamatan si Tita Cory.
Basahin ang dalwang blog entry. Then lets have some disc. Nakakaumay na kasi ung nakikita ko sa mga tao eh. Iayk dito. Iyak dun. Simpatya dito. Simpatya dun. XP

| Well-stated in kapirasongmantika. he/she significantly elaborated an argument that many of us may have failed to notice. As i said in my previous post, the 'democracy' this country is currently experiencing isn't the type where people are liberated from illegitimate acts of corruption and slaughter.
The only people who share this so-called democracy are those who're sitting under the administration.

| uh... her death
i mean till now i could still remember the parade because of yellow flags and ribbons on the trees i could see it everywhere it in the streets and especially inside my school @ st scholastica
and if ur in the actual parade you'll remember and feel their thankfulness and the "L" sign means for laban.
oh well, laban na kung laban. and now she's dead, all that's left in the philippines are wild hungry animals in the position. what is stored for us now?
for now, i am really thankful that she became one of the president of the philippines that brought democracy in our country
